The certificate used to sign new updates of SMC server has been replaced in version 3.8.1. Its validity date has been extended. This certificate is used to check the integrity of the SMC update file.
Update files prior to version 3.8.1, containing the old expired certificate, no longer allow SMC to be updated.
There is no functional change between version 3.8.1 and version 3.8.0.
