Replacing an SNS firewall through an RMA

If you need to replace a firewall that SMC manages, follow the usual procedure for replacing an appliance through an RMA (Return Material Authorization).

Once the new appliance is ready:

  1. In SMC, in the System > Configuration tab of the firewall properties, unselect Check the firewall serial number when connecting to allow the new appliance, which is presenting a different serial number, to connect to SMC instead of the former appliance.

  2. Restore the firewall's configuration on the new appliance by using a .na backup file
    The firewall will automatically log back in to SMC.

There is nothing additional that you need to do; there is no need to generate a new connecting package.
