When should you remove file protection?
- When files that were previously confidential and protected can now be distributed freely. You wish to remove their protection.
- On Windows only: When SDS for C&M has automatically protected one of your files stored in a synchronized shared space. You are moving it outside the synchronized space and you wish to remove its protection.
To remove file protection
Only users allowed to read protected files can remove their protection. It is not possible to remove protection from files in an automatically protected folder.
- From the Windows explorer (or the Finder in macOS), right-click on the files or folders you no longer wish to protect and select Stormshield Data Security > Remove protection.
The files' .sdsx extension then disappears, meaning they are no longer protected.
