SLS Life Cycle management policy

This document sets out the management policy for the life cycle of SLS products by elaborating on its standard stages. Its goal is to provide maximum visibility over how products in the SLS range will evolve.

SLS mission

Stormshield is a brand of security solutions. As such, our mission is to provide our clients with high-quality products capable of meeting their expectations and requirements in terms of security, robustness and performance.

The quality of Stormshield Log Supervisor software is ensured by the definition and implementation of clear and documented processes. This document indicates the stages in the life cycle of our products and the associated rules.

General points on product life cycle

SLS software is deemed as supported when the version has been tested and validated by our quality teams and runs as expected with all supported operating systems.

For SLS products, three types of software versions are identified.

Major versions (X)

These versions include disruptive features and may also include fixes, incremental features and feature enhancements. "Disruptive" features radically change the way the system is used or operated, either fully or partially. In addition, they can change the behavior of the system and significantly change the appearance of the user interface. To update to a major version, you may need to change configuration components or launch a dedicated upgrade procedure. During updates to major versions, obsolete features may also be removed.

Minor versions (X.Y)

These versions essentially include feature enhancements and may also include incremental features and fixes.

Corrective versions (X.Y.Z)

These versions include only vulnerability or functional fixes.

Fixes are always done in the version following the current minor version. For example, a problem detected in version 2.1.0 while version 2.3.0 has already been released, will be fixed in version 2.3.1 or higher.
