Life Cycle management policy
This document sets out the management policy for the life cycle of SDS Enterprise products by elaborating on its standard stages. Its goal is to provide maximum visibility over how products in the SDS Enterprise range will evolve.
Stormshield is a brand of security solutions. As such, our mission is to provide our clients with high-quality products capable of meeting their expectations and requirements in terms of security, robustness and performance.
The quality of Stormshield Data Security's software is the result of the definition and implementation of clear and documented processes. This document indicates the stages in the life cycle of our products and the associated rules.
SDS Enterprise software is deemed as supported when the version has been tested and validated by our quality teams and runs as expected with all supported operating systems.
For SDS Enterprise products, three types of software versions are identified.
Major versions (X)
These versions include disruptive features and may also include fixes, incremental features and feature enhancements. Disruptive features drastically change the way the product is used, can have an impact on the previous behavior of the product and can entail major modifications to the look&feel of the GUI. A configuration change or a dedicated upgrade procedure may be required in order to update to such versions. Major versions can also be candidates for the removal of obsolete features.
Minor versions (X.Y)
These versions essentially include feature enhancements and may also include incremental features and fixes.
Corrective versions (X.Y.Z)
These versions include only vulnerability or functional fixes.
"LTSB" (Long-Term Support Branch) label
The major or minor version 10 tagged with this label is considered as a long-term stable version. It is maintained until the end of June 2025. This version is recommended for customers that prefer stability over new features and enhancements. It can be updated only with corrective versions.
For each major version branch, only the LTSB versions and the last published minor version may be the target of future fixes or functional upgrades.
All active LTSB versions can receive fixes during their lifetime (no functional upgrades will be granted on these versions).
